This blog is about me versus my appetite. You see, I know what it takes to be fit, to eat right, the exercise that's required.... I one time heard a surgeon explain that we're all like sail boats, and doing everything right is like sitting at the controls to get to where we want to be. When we abandon our post, we will naturally drift off course.
You know what? It takes effort to sit at the controls, and since my early 30's, I've bounced between from the controls, to the galley (where the food is), and have managed to slowly go from 190 to 250 pounds. My attitude toward food, and I suspect this is a human thing--control yourself versus enjoy yourself, has been quite fickle. A quick google search on google defines fickle: "changing frequently, especially as regards one's loyalties, interests, or affection."
That certainly describes the relationship between me (and what I want to be) and my appetite.
And so, here I am, with lots to say about this. And yet, I want my posts to be brief. So, I'll leave it here: I'm 250 pounds today, largely because I'm fickle when it comes to who I want to be (The Captain of my Ship, at the controls) and my appetite. Hence, the name of this blog, 250 Fickle. The purpose of this blog is to help me put my journey into words and help me master and train my appetite. The result will be a more fit, healthy me. I'm looking for lifestyle change.
In my next post, I'll talk a little about my piddly experience with addiction, and how it relates to food. It's just like breathing.... You'll understand. Later, I'll talk about the tools I'll use to help me get down to 220 pounds (just a start?). I bid you adieu.
